I get a number of requests from people to learn bass. Bass guitar is one of those under-appreciated instruments that we take for granted. Most popular songs are recognizable by the guitar parts or from some other popular lead instrument. 

We often don’t really notice that that the bass is even there. But you certainly notice when all of a sudden it’s taken out. 

Bass is an important foundational instrument, especially in a rock ensemble setting. The drums and the bass together provide a solid rhythmic structure, upon which other instruments – such as piano, guitar, and vocals – can be built. If the drums and bass aren’t together, the whole song falls apart.
